APRIL FOOL’s!
Yes, it would be a wonderful thing, but it just doesn’t exist. Cardiovascular Disease is described as the biggest preventable cause of death of people. But is it? It’s amazing how people make you believe anything with statistics.
“There are Lies, damned lies, and statistics”
– British Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli (1804–1881)
It turns out that because antibiotics are so effective, the major diseases that used to be the biggest cause of death are no longer killing the majority of people. Also, our emergency medicine has so improved that we’re also able to save many lives from accidents. So guess what’s the biggest killer now? Heart Disease. You have to die from something! You don’t die of “old age”, your body parts wear out!
So is heart disease preventable? Maybe, and maybe not. There is so much contradictory information about whether high cholesterol is bad for you, about whether fat in your diet causes high cholesterol, about what to eat, if sugar is bad for you, how much water to drink, how to exercise, whether statins are good for you or give you dementia and pain instead of heart disease, and on and on!
The only thing that doctors seem to agree upon at this point is that STRESS either causes disease, or makes what every you have worse! So why take medication for the result of stress? The best thing is to do stress management.
There are so many choices for managing stress, but the bottom line is you have to do it daily, not just wait for when something has pushed your hot button. You want to dial down your perception of what stresses you – which actually prevents your body to reacting to stress.
EFT Tapping is a wonderful method to deal with stress. Mindful slow eating, slow walking in nature, do relaxing yoga poses, listen to relaxing music, stop multitasking and live right now, doing only one thing at a time and focus. I love HeartMath stress relief practices. You will feel your stress dissolve, your breathing slow down and relaxation calm your Mind/Body. That’s the best medication to prevent Heart Disease: stress relief.
